Court Grants Former Taraba Governor Darius Ishaku ₦150 Million Bail in Alleged ₦27bn Fraud Case
Former Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku, has been granted bail in the sum of ₦150 million by Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.
Ishaku, who was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged ₦27 billion fraud, was granted bail on the condition that he provides two sureties residing in Abuja.
One of the sureties must be a director in the Federal Civil Service, with their addresses verified by the court registrar.
The EFCC, through its counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, did not oppose the bail, citing that Ishaku had previously been granted administrative bail and did not violate the terms.
Additionally, Justice Oriji ordered that both Ishaku and his co-defendant, Bello Hero, cannot travel out of the country without the court’s permission. The trial has been scheduled to begin on November 4, 2024.

‘Government Prioritizes Money More’ — PDP Calls Out FG On New Tax Law
It has been shared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is calling on the federal government to suspend the tax law set to take effect on January 1, 2026.
This was revealed in a statement released by Ini Ememobong, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP. He stated that this new law shows how Nigerians and the masses will be affected, arguing that the government is prioritizing finance over security and other pressing matters.
“Rather than address these issues comprehensively, the Presidency has consciously minimized them and instead insisted that the commencement date must stand, despite the discrepancies,” the party said, adding that this “clearly shows where the priority of the government lies between Nigerians and money.”
