Davido has revealed that he almost walked away from music before the release of his hit track With You featuring Omah Lay. In a trending interview, the Afrobeats superstar admitted he never imagined the song would become the standout anthem of his recent album.

He explained that the success of With You reignited his drive at a point when he was considering slowing down after more than a decade at the top of the industry.

Looking back, Davido said it felt almost miraculous to score such a defining hit this far into his career. He described the timing as God’s plan, arriving just when he was ready to step aside.

“Some artists get that kind of record at the start of their careers, others halfway through. For me, 13–14 years in, I was already thinking of taking a step back. Then God gave me this song, and it brought fresh energy to my journey,” he said.
