Drug Cartel Leader Arrested After Multi-State Raid

A major drug cartel with bases in Imo and Rivers states was dismantled following weeks of surveillance by the anti-drug agency.

On July 5, 2024, operatives captured the cartel leader and Kenneth Chibuike Ofoegbu in Imo, seizing methamphetamine, precursor chemicals, a pump action gun, and cartridges.

Further raids in Port Harcourt and Njaba LGA led to more drug recoveries and the seizure of another firearm.

Two mansions in Imo linked to the kingpin, who had evaded capture in South Africa, are marked for forfeiture. NDLEA Chairman Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the operation.

Tinubu Assures Nigerians that he will Fulfill all the Promises he Made

President Bola Tinubu has assured the people of Nasarawa State and Nigerians at large that his government remains committed to delivering on all promises under the Renewed Hope Agenda. Tinubu made this known during his visit to the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad, at his palace, where he pledged continued federal support for key developmental projects in Nasarawa, especially in the solid minerals and agriculture sectors.

The president also commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his responsible management of state resources, noting that it has earned the trust of both the Federal Government and investors. Speaking at the Emir’s palace, Tinubu expressed excitement about returning to Nasarawa, recalling the Emir’s prediction during the 2023 campaigns that he would return as Nigeria’s president.

“Thank you for your foresight and your unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress,” Tinubu said. He described Nasarawa as peaceful, stable, and steadily growing, giving credit to Governor Sule and the state’s traditional rulers for their efforts. Tinubu assured that he would continue working hard to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on creating a better future for young Nigerians and generations to come.
