NASU, SSANU Protests Escalate Over Government’s Selective ASUU Salary Payments
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) protested on Tuesday against the Nigerian government’s decision to withhold their salaries for the past four months.
According to Comrade Alasan Abdullahi, NASU Chairman at the Federal University Dutse (FUD), the unions expressed disappointment over the government’s selective payment of four months’ salaries to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) while ignoring other union members.
Abdullahi emphasized the need for fair treatment, questioning why all university staff weren’t treated equally in salary payments.
If their demands are not met, the unions have threatened to initiate a warning strike.
