Nnadozie Happy as She Becomes First African Nominated for Ballon d’Or
Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has shared her thoughts on being nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or Yacine Trophy, which honours the best women’s goalkeeper in the world. The 24-year-old has made history as the first African to earn a spot on the shortlist.
Nnadozie has had a remarkable year for both club and country. She helped her former side Paris FC lift the Coupe de France Féminine in May, making a decisive save in a tense 5-4 penalty shootout win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Since joining Brighton & Hove, she has also been instrumental in Nigeria’s victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where she was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament after keeping four clean sheets in six matches.
Speaking in a video shared on the Super Falcons’ X page, Nnadozie said the recognition means a lot to her and her family, adding that it proves her hard work, consistency, and prayers have truly paid off.
