OCCRP Recognizes Tinubu as One of the World’s Most Corrupt Leaders in The World

The controversial recognition came after the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) invited citizens worldwide to nominate individuals whose actions significantly contributed to criminal enterprises and worsened poverty.

The OCCRP, a global network of investigative journalists and activists, revealed that Nigeria’s President Tinubu ranked third after a public vote.

Kenya’s President William Ruto emerged with the highest votes, securing the top position, while Tinubu followed former Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who placed second.

However, the main “Person of the Year” title was awarded to Bashar al-Assad, Syria’s former leader, who recently fled to Russia after years of ruling the country marked by corruption, war, and economic collapse.

Assad’s regime had long been accused of exploiting Syria’s resources.

OCCRP mentioned that the award was due to the public’s outrage at corruption and its devastating global impact.

According to the group, the goal is to shine a light on leaders and figures whose actions have not only enriched themselves but also contributed to systemic failures in governance and public welfare.

A viral clip has made its way online showing a police officer in Delta State shooting a suspect who had already been restrained.

It can be noted that the suspect was pleading, claiming he had been framed and deceived, and said he would lead them to the right place.

However, while he was pleading, the police officer shot him. The officer later stated that the suspect was armed with a gun.

It was later revealed that the police officer has been arrested, as it is against the law to shoot a restrained suspect.
