Ogun State Urges Flood-Prone Residents to Relocate Immediately
The Ogun State Government has urged residents in flood-prone areas to relocate immediately, reiterating a warning from four months ago. Recent water releases from the Oyan Dam have impacted communities like Isheri and OPIC Estate.
Commissioner for Environment Ola Oresanya emphasized the necessity of these releases to prevent further damage due to the area’s low elevation and tidal fluctuations. He reassured residents that floodwaters are expected to recede significantly starting October 25, thanks to existing drainage systems. The government is also working with Lagos State and the Federal Government to find long-term solutions to flooding issues.
