Peter Obi Calls for Reversal of Rivers State Fund Freeze
Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and a notable voice in Nigerian politics, recently spoke out about a controversial court decision affecting the people of Rivers State.
Known for his focus on policies over personal attacks, Obi has built his political career on advocating for ordinary Nigerians, particularly the impoverished and marginalized.
With his attention drawn to a recent ruling that has halted federal allocations to Rivers State, Obi is now calling for a reversal of this decision, warning that it threatens the well-being of countless citizens already grappling with daily hardships.
In his statement, Obi expressed frustration at how this decision has put the lives of many in Rivers State at risk.
This judgment, he said, not only impacts government officials but also stretches to the pensioners, health workers, teachers, and civil servants who rely on state allocations for their livelihoods.
Obi described how many of these individuals are already surviving on meagre incomes and that this freeze could intensify their struggles, pushing them to the edge of poverty and possibly resulting in preventable deaths.
Drawing from his years of experience in governance, Obi emphasized that a leader’s duty—whether in the Executive, Legislature, or Judiciary—is to make decisions with the needs of the most vulnerable in mind.
He noted that the current scenario could worsen life for those already enduring severe economic challenges in Nigeria, especially as many parts of the country are already reeling from inflation and rising living costs.
Obi’s remarks call for the attention of every well-meaning Nigerian, urging them to support a reversal of the ruling.
He argued that leadership must be rooted in empathy and a genuine concern for the well-being of all citizens, particularly the poorest.
Speaking about his vision for a better Nigeria, Obi emphasized that actions taken today should set the stage for a more equitable and compassionate society.

CIO Urges Defense and Security Services to Cooperate in Yoon’s Arrest
South Korea’s Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) has officially requested the defense ministry and the presidential security service to cooperate in its ongoing efforts to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol.
In a series of letters sent late Sunday, the CIO emphasized the importance of cooperation from both the defense ministry and the security service.
The letters warned of serious legal consequences if either fails to comply with the investigation.
Specifically, the defense ministry was told that any military personnel obstructing the execution of the arrest or search of the presidential residence could face criminal charges or be held liable for damages.
Similarly, the CIO sent a separate warning to the presidential security service, outlining the potential consequences for security personnel who hinder the investigation.
In addition to possible criminal liability, those obstructing the operation could lose their status as public servants and face restrictions on future employment or pension entitlements.
The CIO also reassured security service employees that they would not face repercussions if they defied illegal orders to block the execution of the arrest warrants.
