Peter Obi Celebrates Nigerian Youths Making Globally Achievements
Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate, has once again voiced his belief in the unlimited potential of Nigerian youths, calling for greater investment in their education and future.
Obi expressed his admiration for two exceptional Nigerian children, Eniola Shokunbi and David Akiogbe, whose remarkable achievements have not only brought them global recognition but also highlighted the untapped talents of millions of other Nigerian youths.
On his official X handle, Obi shared an inspiring post about the accomplishments of the two young Nigerians who are making a significant impact in their respective fields.
The first of these rising stars is 12-year-old Eniola Shokunbi, a Nigerian girl based in Connecticut, USA.
Eniola has made a groundbreaking achievement by designing an air filter aimed at reducing the spread of airborne diseases in schools.
Her innovative solution has been approved for funding by the Connecticut State Bond Commission, which has granted her a substantial $11.5 million to further develop the air filter.
This funding will allow Eniola to take her design to the next level, potentially improving health and safety standards in schools not just in the U.S., but around the world.
The second young achiever Obi celebrated is 15-year-old David Akiogbe, a Nigerian boy who scored an impressive 1580 on his Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States.
His exceptional performance on the SAT has garnered attention from top academic institutions, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which confirmed his score.
The inspiring stories of Eniola Shokunbi and David Akiogbe have served as a beacon of hope for millions of Nigerians, proving that the country’s youth can achieve greatness if given the right opportunities.
Obi congratulated both Eniola and David for their remarkable achievements, acknowledging that they not only bring honour to Nigeria but also inspire other young Nigerians to pursue their dreams and reach for the stars.
In his closing remarks, Obi expressed his confidence in the potential of Nigeria’s youth, stating, “With such future stars on the horizon, I am very confident that a New Nigeria is possible.”

FG Extends NYSC Orientation Camp From 3 to 6 Weeks
The Federal Government has announced an extension of the NYSC programme. It can be noted that the NYSC camp orientation is usually for three weeks before the youths go out to gain experience, employment, and serve the country for one year.
However, the FG announced that the passing-out parade from camp will be cancelled, and corps members will now spend six weeks in camp instead of three weeks.
“The first two weeks speak to laying a foundation on civic responsibility. The next two weeks will look at career mapping, basic accounting literacy skills, business planning and access to finance. The final two weeks, we intend to have focused corps-stream-specific training aligned with the corps member’s designated stream based on his choice, academic background and skills profile.”

Federal Government Clarifies Position on Proposed Tax Recommendations
The federal government reacted to claims stating that the new tax rules will be imposed on telecommunications and petroleum products for Nigerians.
The FG released a statement to explain the process and stated that there is no intention to place taxes on telecom and petroleum products and services.
“Those recommendations do not amount to government policy and are not binding on Nigeria. Decisions on tax matters are taken through established constitutional and legislative processes and are guided by national priorities and prevailing economic realities.”
