Peter Obi Donates N60 Million to Support Education and Health in Anambra
Peter Obi, in a testament to his dedication to Nigeria’s growth, visited Anambra State on a mission to bolster the critical pillars of health and education.
In his visit to Peter University in Achina, he extended his financial support by donating N50 million to aid the university’s development, underscoring his belief that education is a powerful tool to lift people out of poverty and fuel national progress.
This generous support, he noted, aligns with his long-standing commitment to health and education, sectors he believes are essential for a “New Nigeria.”
During his message, Obi emphasized that without a strong, educated, and healthy workforce, no nation can achieve sustained development.
He expressed confidence that investing in these areas, especially for Nigeria’s youth, is key to creating a prosperous, productive country.
Given Nigeria’s large youth population, he sees this investment as not just beneficial but necessary to build a foundation for a brighter future.
Following his visit to Peter University, Obi travelled to the College of Nursing Sciences in Adazi Nnukwu, where he pledged an additional N10 million.
The donation aims to support the institution in its mission to produce skilled healthcare professionals—a crucial need in a nation where healthcare services are often stretched.
Obi acknowledged the hard work of the nursing college’s administration, faculty, and students, recognizing the vital role they play in serving the health needs of their communities.
Through his donations, Obi aims to encourage both institutions to continue their commitment to quality education and healthcare, which he considers essential for Nigeria’s growth.
Peter Obi also took a moment to appreciate the efforts of the institutions’ proprietors, management, staff, and students.
He commended their hard work in a sector that is often underappreciated, acknowledging that their dedication is central to the ongoing development of Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole.
Obi’s commitment to these sectors has long been a staple of his political vision.
He believes that prioritizing health and education isn’t just about creating opportunities but about fostering a cycle of productivity, self-sufficiency, and economic resilience.
By building up a healthy, well-educated population, he envisions a Nigeria where people are empowered to not only lift themselves out of poverty but also drive the nation’s progress.
As he closes his remarks, Obi emphasizes that the journey to a “New and Productive Nigeria” is possible if efforts are made collectively and consistently in the right direction.
He states, “I remain confident that a New and Productive Nigeria is Possible,” reiterating his hope that these investments will inspire others to prioritize the sectors that shape the nation’s future.

“Rather than play the ostrich and cover up clear terrorism as mere farmer-herder clashes, the Nigerian state has a responsibility to invade the camps of armed marauders who hide under the cloak of herdsmen of whatever ethnicity, and who invade defenceless communities and gleefully massacre unarmed men, women and children.”
