Tinubu Orders Swift Action to Restore Power in Northern Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently expressed deep concern over the power outage affecting a large portion of northern Nigeria.
This issue arose from a deliberate act of vandalism on the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line, which disrupted electricity for around 17 northern states, impacting daily life and slowing down economic activities.
On Monday, President Tinubu held a crucial meeting with the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, urging him and other key players in the sector to expedite efforts to restore power across all affected states.
The President emphasized that prompt action was necessary to alleviate the strain on communities and businesses that rely on a steady power supply.
Tinubu expressed his disappointment regarding the damage to essential public infrastructure, highlighting the unnecessary hardship such actions create for citizens.
Tinubu also instructed the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) engineers to work with full dedication in restoring electricity swiftly.
Acknowledging the importance of their work, he urged them not to lose focus as communities depend on them to revive normal life.
To ensure the safety of those repairing the damaged infrastructure, Tinubu directed the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to collaborate closely with the Nigerian Army and Air Force.
These security forces were instructed to provide robust protection for TCN engineers, including aerial support to guard against any potential threats while repairs are underway.
Moreover, President Tinubu appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, and influential voices within these regions to support security agencies in safeguarding public infrastructure from future attacks.
He encouraged a united front, stressing that the protection of these assets benefits the entire community by preventing further disruption.
