Selena Gomez Responds to Deportation Call After Getting Emotional Over ICE Raids
Selena Gomez has responded to calls for her deportation after she got emotional over recent U.S. immigration raids under Trump’s administration.
The nationwide raids, carried out by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) alongside other agencies, led to the arrest of over 1,100 undocumented immigrants.
Gomez, who has Mexican roots, shared her thoughts in a now-deleted Instagram video, visibly shaken by the situation. Fighting back tears, the 32-year-old singer and actress expressed deep sorrow for those affected, especially the children.
“I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children, I don’t understand. I wish I could do something. I will try everything, I promise,” she said.
Her emotional response didn’t sit well with former U.S. Senate candidate Sam Parker, who took to social media to suggest she should be deported.
Parker accused Gomez of prioritizing undocumented immigrants over America, claiming she is the descendant of Mexicans who gained citizenship through the 1987 amnesty program.
“She has an entitlement attitude toward America, like her illegal parents. Maybe Selena should be deported, too?” he wrote.
Gomez responded to Parker’s remarks in a way that showed she wasn’t fazed. Sharing a post on her Instagram story, she simply wrote, “Oh Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat.”
