The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has revealed that seven teachers were abducted following a recent attack on a school in the state.

It was also shared that the number of students taken is still being investigated.

The governor further revealed that some people were killed during the attack and abduction.

He also added “With the pressure on the terrorists and the bandits in the North-West, they will keep moving southward.”

“When you have pressure in one place, we must be prepared on this side to either repel or neutralise any terrorists fleeing the pressure points.”

The Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce speaks on the current cases of xenophobia in South Africa.

The chamber came out with concerns over the situation and how it might affect Nigerians and other Africans living in South Africa.

“Both nations share long-standing relationships built on mutual respect, cooperation, trade, and a shared vision for African prosperity.

“These values must remain at the forefront during periods of tension such as this.”

Reports have emerged that health concerns linked to hantavirus were investigated aboard a cruise ship after passengers reportedly showed symptoms connected to the disease.

Authorities shared that the ship would return to land while preparations for quarantine and health screenings were being arranged for passengers and crew members.

“Preparations regarding our point of arrival, quarantine and screening procedures for all guests, and the onward travel plans for all guests and affected crew are being led by organisations from several countries,” the official statement read.

Officials are continuing investigations while health teams monitor the situation closely.
