Man Blames VMAs for Afrobeats and Amapiano Mix-Up
Amid the ongoing online debate about Tyla’s VMA win, one man has shared his frustrations, not with the singer, but with the VMAs for failing to recognize the difference between Afrobeats and Amapiano. While many have criticized Tyla for accepting the Best Afrobeats Award despite identifying as an Amapiano artist, this man directs his concerns at the award organizers.
In a video circulating online, he argues that the VMAs should have been more careful with their categorization instead of grouping all African artists under the Afrobeats label. His stance contrasts with others who focus on Tyla accepting an award that doesn’t represent her musical style.
